DESCRIPTION:DATE: Wednesday 11 May 2022\nTIME: 15:00 to 16:00 Paris time\n\nFocusing on a tiny number of tech unicorns obscures the reality of new business creation. Most startups don’t need venture capital and don’t fit the trajectory VCs require anyway.\n\nIn this webinar, we examine entrepreneurship as a career option and ask how real-world founders can create great businesses without running great risks.\n\nAlso, we will investigate how new entrepreneurs can make sure their career path continues to make sense whether or not their venture succeeds. In particular:\n\n\n	Smart ways that real entrepreneurs use to reduce risk\n	Alternative routes to funding\n	Why the best business ideas are “close to home”\n	How to avoid the venture capital dependency trap\n	Why the heroic myths of entrepreneurship lead new entrepreneurs astray\n	Why you should view a startup as one project in your career\n\n\nAll participants receive:\n\n\n	Access to the webinar and the chance to ask questions live;\n	Catch-up recording of the webinar;\n	A bonus materials resource pack including slides and support materials.\n\n\n \n\nREGISTRATION\nWe have 200 free tickets for Audencia's alumni and students\n(use code "AUD-student" if ticket does not show)\n\n\nAbout our speakers\n\nChris Coleridge was an entrepreneur as a young man in the 1990s, became an academic in entrepreneurship and strategy after exiting his business, and recently returned to the “practical” side of entrepreneurship alongside his continuing work at Cambridge Judge Business School where he is a senior faculty member.\nChris has taught entrepreneurship both inside and outside academia. He was formerly programme director of the MSc in Technology Entrepreneurship at UCL, and founded the Cambridge Judge Launchpad (now simply known as the Master of Studies in Entrepreneurship).\n\nPatrick McGinnis is the author of The 10% Entrepreneur.
